La siesta
Sleeping in the afternoon is a wonderful thing. Somehow I even feel better after a quick 2 hours nap than the night’s sleep. I can’t really explain it. Maybe the night’s sleep starts badly, after you have your boring day to ponder about, your precious dog sleeping in a small closed space and a new boring morning ahead of you. Afternoon sleep doesn’t contain so much thinking before sleeping. It’s just you and your wrecked after-gym body falling down after lunch and Flashforward episode. The dog’s at your feet cuddled up or lying upside down like a cockroach on a bad vacation. Huh, relaxation. What’s so wrong about that? People tend to think us day-sleepers are lazy! But if you’ve got nothing to do, why not hug your pillow a little bit? The funny thing is that it’s a very fresh wakening after an hour and a half-2 hours nap. No annoying alarm clock, no fake bird sounds from your cell. I actually heard a real bird tweeting outside my window right before I fell asleep. And I thought, “wow… a bird tweeting. And it’s a bird. Not a celebrity telling us he’s going to a football match. It’s a real tweet! It’s been a long..”. Actually nice falling asleep to real bird tweets. Made me imagine Tweety bird dangling on a swing someone built for her on my tree. Is it a she? I always thought so. Oh, but maybe it’s a he. How come no one thought of branching twitter with Tweety. Yoohoo WB…

I’m not 70, just in my 20s, but I am very pro-afternoon nap! Go siesta! Should have been born in Spain. Now, I shall go and take my after-afternoon nap snack. Or hot cocoa! Ooooh I want hot chocolate! So winter’ish.
